fathom the g r e y

we stand here, facing each other

just like this for we don’t know

how long.

I gave up speaking a long

time ago when I

realized you weren’t

listening at all.

take my eyes off your face

and I see all those words that fell

from my lips

hanging there,

unheard unseen

how do I tell you I want you

when what I speak is grey

and what you’re looking for is

plain black & white.

strong winds blowing

pure water gushing

hearts shivering fingers trembling

these words unmoving.

seems like years might pass us by

before I learn to speak black & white

and you begin to fathom the grey

between us.
